Tennessee Tree Day 2021 is Almost Here!

This year the City of Oak Ridge Healthy Waters Program is once again participating in Tennessee Tree Day which is put on by the Tennessee Environmental Council. This means that it is time to begin reserving your seedlings which will be ready for pick up March 19th and 20th.

Why would the Healthy Waters Program care so much about a tree planting event? Well, trees play an important role within our environment. Trees act to stabilize soils on the banks of rivers, hills, and other locations which reduces erosion and sediment related pollution. Additionally, trees can slow down rainfall and stormwater, absorb and filter out many pollutants that are picked up by water, and provide aesthetic value.

The tree seedlings will range from 1 to 3ft tall and are available for a small donation of $1.99 per seedling. Make sure to reserve them before March 7th!

Your pick up location will be the  Public Works Department, City of Oak Ridge Central Services Complex, 100 Woodbury Ln, Oak Ridge, TN.

Pick-up times: Friday, March 19 from 9am – 5pm & Saturday March 20 from 9am – 12pm
